A friend of mine, Kim, has started an amazing initiative called ‘with strangers’ that’s on a mission to combat loneliness.
One way that Kim was wanting to bring ‘with strangers’ to life was through in-person events, the first one being with me (!) on a Saturday morning a couple of weeks ago.
My love language is pastries and pilates so we hatched a plan to bring together like-minded people for a 45 minute pilates flow, coffees, pastries and conversation. We hired a gorgeous studio in the Northern Beaches and filled it with plants, disco balls, candles and flowers. The sun was shining, the breeze was floating through the windows and it was perfect.

Kim shared a few words about her experience with loneliness and one thing that stuck out to me was that “loneliness is the absence of connection, not company”.
We handed out conversation cards handed out and groups were formed for people to meet someone new and form a connection. Phone numbers were exchanged and friends were made 🥹

We also had a very good girl, Sky, who loved the Pilates class and hoovering up the croissant crumbs.
Mornings like this remind me how simple it can be to feel good: a bit of movement, some vitamin D, caffeine and talking to nice people in real life.
See you at the next one 🫶
